Balaclava-clad robbers target Brighton convenience store

Two men wearing balaclavas and armed with baseball bats stole money, alcohol and cigarettes from a convenience store in Brighton last night (19th January).

The two men entered The Brighton Emporium in Warleigh Road, off London Road, at around 10.10pm and told a male member of staff to get on the floor while they helped themselves to cash and produce before leaving the shop.

There are no descriptions of the men at this stage and it is also not known how much money was stolen.

Detective Sergeant Stephen French, of Brighton and Hove CID, said: “This was obviously a very distressing incident for the member of staff who was in the shop at the time and we are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help us identify the men who carried out this robbery.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who saw them leaving the store after the incident or saw any men acting suspiciously in the area before it took place.”

Anyone with information can contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 1832 of 19/1.
