Fire at Greek Orthodox Church treated as suspicious

Sunday’s fire at the Greek Orthodox Church in Carlton Hill, Brighton, is being treated as suspicious, Sussex Police has stated.

Police were called by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service to the church at around 2.45pm on Sunday 4 July.

No one was injured in the fire, which was put out by the first service, but the areas surrounding the fire had to be temporarily evacuated by police.

Sussex police have said they are conducting a joint investigation with the fire investigations officer to establish the circumstances surrounding the fire.
