Man hit with log near Hangleton underpass

A 25-year-old man was attacked by another man with a piece of wood near to the underpass that leads to the Sainsbury store in Hangleton.

The attack took place just after 9pm on 12th August when the victim was heading to the supermarket and entered a zig-zag path with street lighting.

The victim saw a man crouching down holding a large piece of wood that he believed to be a log. The man, who was wearing a light grey hooded top and jeans, sprung up and hit the victim in his body and legs.

After falling to the ground he managed to kick and push away the attacker. The victim ran to the underpass and past a number of people talking near the entrance.

The suspect is thought to have come to the corner of the zig-zag path, seen the people and ran back to wards Benfield Way.

He is described as white, aged around 21, 5’8″, slim and had short brown hair.

A police spokesman said: “Were you one of the people near the underpass. Did you witness the assault or do you have informaton that can assist police in locating the offender?”
