Junction at The Drive to be improved after Lib Dem ‘pressure’

The safety of the busy Hove junction of Church Road and The Drive is currently being improved thanks to ‘pressure’ form would-be Liberal Democrat councillors.

Mark Collins and Rebecca Taylor, who are standing for election in Central Hove in May’s local elections, claim that ‘months of Liberal Democrat pressure’ has led to improvements being made after ‘nothing’ from the successive Labour and Tory councils.

Rebecca Taylor said: “The previous crossing was a nightmare for pedestrians, cylcists and drivers. Successive Labour & Tory councils had done nothing to improve this junction and resulting in regular accidents and near-misses. I am delighted that after Liberal Democrats raised the concerns of local residents, a safer crossing is being installed.”

Mark Collins added: “For residents with reduced mobility and poor eyesight or hearing, and especially those with young children or push-chairs, this crossing was completely unsuitable. I am glad the Council has listened to our concerns and has started work to make improvements, I hope our local residents will see an immediate benefit.”

The current councillors in Central Hove are Averil Older and Jan Young.
