Man hit with bottle in attempted street robbery

A man was hit over the head with a bottle on Lewes Crescent in Kemp Town this morning in an attempted street robbery.

The victim has been taken to hospital for treatment but had been able to chase away the offender after being struck just before 6am.

Bradley Hughes, 28, of Slindon Avenue, Peacehaven, has been charged with attempted robbery, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an offensive weapon.

Hughes has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
