Man arrested after four convenience store robberies in three days

A 32-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested after four convenience stores in and around Hollingdean were robbed in just three days.

Corner News & Booze convenience store on Upper Hollingdean Road and a Post Office on Preston Road were targeted in the mornings of Saturday and Sunday and a further two incidents took place on Monday (4th July).

At about 1.30pm on Monday a man entered N&M Stores in Upper Lewes Road and threatened staff with a knife before taking cash from the till.

The same man is believed to have entered St Marys convenience store in Upper Hamilton Road at 5.40pm and again threatened staff with a knife before taking cash from the till and stealing cigarettes.

Detective Inspector Steve Warner said: “We believe these robberies are linked and we made the arrest in a street in Brighton this morning, Tuesday 5 July, as a result of our enquiries.”
