Man dies after lorry collides with parked cars

The driver of a lorry that collided with a series of parked cars near to Elm Grove in Brighton has died in hospital.

The 62-year-old man from Ashford in Kent had been taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital following the accident at around 11.30 this morning, but has sadly died of his injuries.

The heavy goods vehicle collided with a number of parked cars and a camper van which in turn caused damage to a number of homes at the junction between Elm Grove and Queen’s Park Road.

Six houses had to be evacuated while the gas board attended to deal with damage to the gas mains as a result of the incident.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting Operation Dunbar.
