Man knocked unconscious and robbed in Whitehawk

A man was robbed after being knocked unconscious in an early evening attack in Whitehawk, Brighton.

The incident took place yesterday (25th October) at 5.40pm while the victim was walking near St John the Baptist Primary School on Whitehawk Hill Road.

The 21-year-old victim is believed to have been hit on the head and while unconscious he was robbed on two mobile phones and a large amount of cash.

Police want to hear from anyone who is offered a Sony Ericsson and/or a Nokia mobile phone for sale.

Detective Sergeant Steve French from Brighton and Hove CID said: “This was a particularly nasty attack which has left the victim very shaken. We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault or has been offered a Sony Erricson and/or a Nokia mobile phone for sale.

“Officers are continuing this morning with house to house enquiries and are viewing CCTV.”

The victim was taken to nearby Royal Sussex County Hospital to be treated for bruising and swelling to his face.

The suspect has been described as white, aged 20 to 25, with light brown hair and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a dark hoodie and dark trousers.

The incident is not being linked with robberies later in the same evening on Lewes Road and Edward Street in Brighton.
