Two men have been charged with attempted robbery following an incident at the sub-post office on Widdicombe Way in Moulsecoomb on Wednesday (27th December).
The men, along with a third man, have also been charged with carrying out two street robberies in Brighton in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Unemployed trio Joshua Charman, 18, of Barcombe Road, George Eaton, 18, of Bexhill Road, and Luke Kirby, 27, of Highbrook Close have been charged with carrying out two street robberies within half an hour of each other in Newmarket Road and Hollingdean Road in Brighton.
During the incidents a 19-year-old man and 16-year-old boy were robbed of a mobile phone, cash and an ipod and a wallet respectively.
Eaton and Kirby have also been charged with attempting to rob the Premier News store in Widdicombe Way, during which a suspect was tackled by a 75-year-old man as he left the store empty handed after threatening staff with a knife. The suspect lost his motorcycle helmet in the incident before fleeing on a moped that was driven by a second man.
All three are due to appear in custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court this morning.
