Live explosive device found in Portslade

A live explosive device dating from the Second World War was found in Portslade near to where shoppers were going about last minute Christmas shopping on Friday 23rd December.

A member of the public contacted police after finding the device at Carlton Terrace in Portslade and as a result a cordon was put in place around the area and bomb disposal officers were called.

The device, which police believe to be a live two inch mortar, was taken from the scene to be safely disposed.
