The three people arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was found to have been run over in east Brighton are still being questioned by police.
A 33-year-old man remains at Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car on The Causeway, which is a short distance from Brighton Racecourse, at 3.30pm on 16th July.
On Monday morning (18th July) detectives were granted more time by magistrates to question two women suspects.
The women, who are 26 and 29-years-old, can be held for a further 36 hours before they have to be released or charged.
A 55-year-old man was also arrested following the incident, but was taken straight to hospital for treatment to minor facial injuries.
He was released into police custody on 17th July and officers have been granted an extra 12 hours through a Superintendent’s extension to keep him in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick May of Sussex Police‘s Major Crime Branch said: “This extra time will allow us to question the suspects further so that we can build up a full picture of what happened in The Causeway on Saturday afternoon.
“The 33-year-old victim remains in hospital in a very serious condition and we have been unable to gain an account of events from him.
“We would still like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information which may assist us with our enquiries.”
