Rottingdean abduction claim false, say police

Sussex Police have reported that news of an attempted abduction and strangulation in Rottingdean were false.

A 21-year-old woman from Peacehaven claimed to have been attacked by a man, who she said jumped into her car near Seaford. She had told police that the man had tried to stangle her but that she managed to escape and raise the alarm in Rottingdean.

However, a statement released by Sussex Police said: “Further enquiries have since established that the allegation was false and a woman, aged 21, from Peacehaven has been referred to other agencies locally.

“Police are now satisfied that the incident as reported did not take place.”
