Rottingdean Terraces set for a revamp

A neglected stretch of coastline in Rottingdean is set to be revamped ahead of the summer season.

The Rottingdean Terraces, which has suffered from vandalism, is being refurbished in a joint effort by Brighton and Hove City Council and Rottingdean Parish Council.

David Murray, Brighton & Hove City Council’s Strategic Director Communities, said: “This is a real community effort, with the council working with the parish council and local people to breathe new life into this area. We hope the Rottingdean terraces will be a popular spot to relax and enjoy the seafront this summer, and throughout the year.”

The council also has been working with Natural England to reintroduce plants including Rottingdean Sea Lavender to newly formed shingle beds on the seafront.

Meanwhile, local community group Rottingdean Arts are proposing the creation of an open air stage in the area.
