Snooker ball-wielding robber leaves empty handed

A robber, who it is believed was wielding a bag containing a snooker ball, left a Brighton newsagents empty-handed after the assistant refused to hand over cash.

The man entered the shop in Ditchling Road, Brighton, shortly before 5.30pm yesterday (8th December) and demanded that the assistant hand over cash.

However, the man, who is described as being six foot and of large build, was forced from the shops and left in the direction of Fiveways.

The man is believed to be about 40 and had a gruff voice with a southern accent. He was wearing gloves and a thigh length light brown/camel duffle coat with the hood up over a dark balaclava.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or believes they may recognise the description is asked to call Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 1084 of 08/12.
