Suspected burglar rescued by firefighters after getting stuck on roof

A suspected burglar had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck on a roof while trying to get away from police.

Police officers were called to the car park in Rock Place at 3.15am this morning (28th October) after two men were seen acting suspiciously.

The men tried to escape across roof tops, but one man became stuck and firefighters from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service had to be called to get him down.

The second man ran off, but was arrested at 4am after police were alerted to a man having been seen in a garden in Lower Rock Gardens.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage, while a 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

The Brighton-based pair are both in custody this morning.
