Wanted man arrested following Crimewatch appeal

A man wanted on suspicion on carrying out burglaries in Brighton, Hove and elsewhere in Sussex, has been arrested following an appeal on Crimewatch on Thursday night.

Barrie Gordon Williamson, 48, was featured on the show by police with officers in Dorset, Kent, Norfolk, Nottinghamshire and Lancashire also wanting to speak to him about burglaries.

Williamson, who is also wanted for recall to prison for having broken the conditions of his release licence, was arrested at an address in Blackpool after a Crimewatch viewer called the programme.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “We thank Crimewatch for their assistance and the member of the public for that call.”
