Witnesses are being sought to the attack, which saw a 40-year-old man, of no fixed address, being struck in the face with the butt of a knife, causing injuries which required hospital treatment.

Police were called after the man was seen bleeding in Ditchling Rise at around 7.45am.

The men ran when the victim was approached and assaulted by another man, who ran off in the direction of Viaduct Road. These men may hold important information, so I’d urge them and any other witnesses to contact us immediately.”
