The plan to build a new library and doctors’ surgery in Woodingdean has been backed by Brighton Kemptown MP Simon Kirby.
Brighton and Hove City Council is expected to approve the proposal, which will involve the development being built on Warren Road in Woodingdean, replacing the current library.
Woodingdean’s residents have long complained about the existing facility that occupies a ‘temporary’ prefab building from the 1950s.
The scheme, which will see the council work with the local NHS to provide a much larger doctors’ surgery on the same site, could be completed by April 2013.
Simon Kirby said: “The residents of Woodingdean have waited a long time for this much needed facility. Credit must go to Woodingdean ward councillors Dee Simson and Geoff Wells for all their hard work over many years to make this a reality.”
