Sussex is today mourning the loss of much-loved local DJ Chris Copsey, who died suddenly yesterday.
Chris Copsey worked in local radio for over 25 years and had been one of the most well-known voices on Southern FM and had also worked for Arrow FM and Bright.
His last post was as the Breakfast DJ at Splash FM.
Pete McIntosh, head of Media Sound Holdings, confirmed the news, saying: “Chris passed away, suddenly, earlier today having presented his breakfast show this morning.”
McIntosh has led the tributes to ‘Copo’ and said: “He really was a legend on the airwaves in Sussex, joining Southern Sound (later Southern FM) at launch back in 1983 and remained with the station in its various guises for over 20 years.
“He was a consummate professional, always paying attention to the slightest of details, always offering a kind and supportive word to his colleagues, and much loved by his listeners.”
He added: “It’s been a sad day and I know he will be greatly missed by many friends and colleagues. He was kind, witty, talented, and a devoted family man.”
You can leave your own tribute on Splash FM’s website where a book on condolence has been set up.
