The third White Night festival in Brighton attracted thousands to the city on Saturday evening and has received overwhelmingly positive reviews.

The Guardian’s review of the nocturnal arts festival spoke of ‘mind-bending theatrical experiences’ as the city celebrated the extra hour of darkness with a ‘markedly developed theatre and performance art programme’.

Bella Todd said: “It provided a fascinating opportunity to see work commissioned specifically for the dead of night.”

White Night is organised by the city council and Brighton & Hove Arts Commission and supported by Arts Council England and the European Union Interreg 4 (Channel) programme.

It is estimated 40,000 people attended the event and Brighton and Hove City Council leader Mary Mears said: “It was fantastic. There were just so many people about who were having a good time. People were having fun, and maybe having a drink, but not drinking just to have fun.”
