Rottingdean School steps in to help parents stranded by St Mary’s closure

St Aubyns School, an independent Preparatory School for boys and girls in Rottingdean, has promised to offer a smooth transition for parents left stranded by Roedean School’s decision to close St Mary’s Junior School in July 2011.

The school has been recommended for continuing education to families affected by the closure of the Kemp Town school, which had been taken over by Roedean School two years ago, but will be closed at the end of the current school year.

A statement from St Aubyns describes the school as having a “combination of small classes and a big heart” and it says the family-run Prep School offers “outstanding pastoral care and personalised learning”.

Headmaster Simon Hitchings said: “St Aubyns and Roedean have had a very good relationship for many years. We are pleased to be able to provide a smooth transition for Roedean Junior School families at this difficult time.”
