Falmer flyover opens after snow delay

The flyover providing access to Brighton and Hove Albion’s Amex Community Stadium at Falmer has opened.

The new road junction and flyover close to the A270 cost £5m and was a condition of planning permission for the stadium. It was funded by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and led by Brighton & Hove City Council.

The road is also seen to provide improved access to Lewes Road and to Stanmer Park and the proposed new historical archive at The Keep in Falmer, where work is to begin on the ambitious project in the spring.

Council leader Mary Mears, who official opened the Bridge, said: “We are pleased to be involved in delivering these important improvement works. These will support the Albion’s new stadium and deliver significant numbers of jobs in the area. They will also serve the wider Academic Corridor along the Lewes Road and improve access to the Keep, the proposed new records centre being developed in partnership with East Sussex.”
