MP calls for improvements to ‘inadequate’ Bevendean bus service

Brighton Kemptown MP Simon Kirby has called on improvements to be made to the bus service for Bevendean, which he has described as ‘inadequate’.

The MP for the area has responded to Brighton and Hove City Council‘s consultation on bus services ahead of the re-tendering of bus contracts in the city next year.

Simon Kirby said: “From speaking to local residents I am acutely aware of the inadequate service for Bevendean, particularly the 49A service. A survey of Bevendean residents revealed that 90% of respondents felt that the service was inadequate.”

He added: “Many people rely on the bus to get them to school/college or work on time and currently the unreliability of the service means people are frequently late. Therefore I have called on Brighton and Hove City Council to improve the service for residents of Bevendean, and to consider introducing a shuttle service for the Moulsecoomb & Bevendean area, as desired by many residents.”
