Celia Barlow welcomes Shoreham Development Plans

Labour MP for Hove and Portslade Celia Barlow has welcomed the announcement that Government funding has been made available to help develop plans for an eco-town at the Shoreham Port development.

Shoreham Port, to the west of Brighton and Hove, has been included in the second wave of proposals for world leading eco-towns. The announcement was accompanied by the promise that Government funding will double to £10million to help Local Authorities develop their plans. The Shoreham Port proposals have the opportunity to be redesigned to meet even higher sustainability standards.

Celia Barlow MP said: “The proposals all over the country show that there is a real and growing momentum to how we build green homes for the future.

“The Government’s support for these projects is another sign of its commitment to putting the UK at the forefront of tackling climate change. In the run up to Copenhagen, it is important that we act nationally as well as seeking international change.

“The plans for Shoreham Port can lead the world in sustainable development.It will bring high value job to an industrial area and help solve Brighton and Hove’s huge housing problems.”
