Brighton Pavilion’s Women on The Politics Show

Brighton Pavilion’s leading parliamentary candidates were seen together in today’s The Politics Show on BBC1 in a feature on women in politics.

Nancy Platts is attempting to keep Labour in control of Brighton Pavilion, but faces stiff competition from the Conservatives’ Charlotte Vere and the Green Party leader Caroline Lucas, while the Liberal Democrats are represented by Bernie Millam.

The Brighton Pavilion seat has been attracting plenty of attention through its all-female race (UKIP are represented by Nigel Carter however), but also due to the distinct possibility of Lucas securing a historic seat for the Green Party.

For your chance to see the women behind the words check out the show on BBC’s iPlayer here – http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/the_politics_show_south_east. The feature begins after roughly 28 minutes.

Elsewhere today, The Independent included Lucas in a list of ‘100 women who changed the World‘.

They said: “As leader of the Green Party, who could become Britain’s first Green MP in this year’s general election, Lucas has given the party a mainstream image in the “Others” backwater of British politics. Formerly active in CND and Oxfam, she is also the vice-president of the RSPCA and the Stop the War Coalition.”
