The Conservative Party say they’ve brought £280m of investment to Moulsecoomb & Bevendean in the past four years.
Sitting councillor Maria Caulfield is joined by Ayas Fallon Kahn (currently councillor in Goldsmid ward) in seeking to be elected in what promises to be one of the tightest wards across the city on May 5th.
The third Tory councillor in the ward is 36-year-old Cath Slater, who replaced Georgina Dore last month after the Brighton College teacher stood down.
A statement from the party said: “After years of neglect under Labour, Conservatives have been delivering for Moulsecoomb & Bevendean residents for the last four years since Maria Caulfield was elected. In that time Conservatives have brought in £280 million of investment to the Community.”
The Conservatives have jibed that the area was victim of ‘years of neglect under Labour’, while Cllr Khan cheekily points out that the fact Labour can’t even spell Moulsecoomb (see Labour’s website) is testament to ‘how much they care about the ward’.
Cllr Khan said: “Maria Caulfield and my fellow Conservatives on Brighton and Hove City Council have delivered all this for the people of Moulsecoomb & Bevendean in just four years by working closely with local residents at every step of the way. Labour on the other hand can’t even spell Moulsecoomb, as can be seen on their website, which shows how much they care about the ward.”
The party has outlined their involvement in the area, which encompasses the American Express Community Stadium, Falmer Academy and The Keep.
