Body of Roedean woman, 88, found on beach

The body of a Roedean pensioner has been found on the beach near to Brighton Marina.

It has been confirmed that the body found at 8am this morning (9th December) is that of Eileen Beck, 88, who went missing from her home in Roedean between 4am and 7.30am this morning. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

Her body was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, were sadly she was pronounced dead.

Detective Sergeant Chris Sherwell said: “We are not treating the death of Mrs Beck as suspicious but are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen her between 4am and 7.30am this morning in the area between and around her home, at The Cliff, Roedean and Brighton Marina.

“It is always very sad when a search for a missing person ends in this way and our thoughts are with Mrs Becks family.”

Anyone with information regarding Mrs Beck’s last known movements is asked to call Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting incident number 159 of 09/12
