Brighton’s shops fight for survival

This month the credit crunch has taken new victims, with Threshers, Wine Rack and Borders struggling to survive, but while the big names suffer the small, individual companies have an even harder job to make a living.

However, Brighton’s iconic Lanes are proving to be resistant to the hard times as they continue to thrive with their individuality and quirkiness. There is nowhere better to shop for Christmas presents than these narrow streets off Brighton’s seafront.
